A Day Of My Life....

Last year we took a trip to West Bengal and Sikkim. It’s one of the most beautiful places in India. You can trust me on that ‘cos I have seen quite a few places in India.
But this post is not about West Bengal or Sikkim, so go ahead and find out!

So we went to Darjeeling, which is popular hill station in India. Though I was totally disappointed with the place as it was very dirty, it had a few good spots worth visiting, one of them being Tiger Hills.

Now Tiger Hills is a special spot because you visit it at dawn just before sunrise and catch a glimpse of the first golden rays of the sun falling on the Kanchanjunga mountain ranges on the west which makes these snow capped mountains shimmer as if they are made of gold. This lasts for somewhere around two minutes after that there is a full sunrise.(See picture)

So to watch this we set out at 3:30 in the morning. I wasn’t very keen on it as nothing is more important to me than sleep. Nevertheless, we got there at somewhere around 4 in the morning, half frozen and sleepy. I was covered in three layers of clothing with a snow cap and a muffler (I was nothing keeping well on top of it). There were other tourists as well who had gone through the same trouble to get there and we were all taken to a room similar to a glass house. And this is where the story begins…

Amongst us was an American. Now let me tell you this, I have a thing for foreigners… I think it’s their eyes, ’cos most Indians have dark brown eyes (how boring!). Now this guy was alone and was giving friendly smiles left and right. Another family was enthusiastic enough to reciprocate the gesture and was soon chatting away with him. Soon this guy was standing next to us and started talking to us. Now he was not just an American but he was also cute! I came to know his name was Tom and he was from San Francisco or California (damn my memory!), working for an MNC. He was dark blonde with blue eyes, was somewhere around 5’11”. It seems he was here with a bunch of friends, but he alone came to Darjeeling and was asking our opinion about places he could visit, though he had a travel itinerary planned. And he was going to visit Mumbai too. I forgot all about the chill and my fever when we started talking.

I kept meeting him the whole day wherever we went. The monestry, the wild life sanctuary etc... And we kept giving smiles to each other. I was hoping to see him at the carnival in the evening, he said he would be coming but it never happened. At the end of the day I was so sure I had a teeny tiny crush on him.

The next day I was leaving for Calcutta and I remember him saying he would be flying to Delhi, so I had no hope of seeing him again. We drove to Bagdogra airport, which was the only nearest airport and a small one at that. And guess who else is at the airport?

The funniest part was he didn’t recognize me at all! I figured that was because I was all bundled up in heavy clothing the other day with a snow cat and all, looking twice my size and here I was at the airport in a sleeveless top and jeans!

I saw him go here and there, then through the security check. I was mentally wishing him good bye when he came back with a luggage he couldn’t carry as a cabin baggage. He was the last passenger to board the flight to Delhi. The whole while I was watching him discreetly, for I had nothing much to do but wait for my flight to announce departure. It was convenient to watch, since he did not recognize me. But part of me was sad. Crazy, huh?

Then finally I was sitting in this coffee shop overlooking the tarmac and saw him walk towards his plane…

This was the closest I came to having a crush on a blonde guy with blue eyes…

The Signs

You know your blog is dying when:

  • You open other people’s blog page before you open yours.
  • You don’t open your blog page for almost a week.
  • The only comment on your blog is, ‘Where are you these days? Why aren’t you posting?’
  • You don’t even want to look at your blog hits anymore.
  • You are surprised you got a comment
  • You use your user name only to comment on other’s posts!

Update

It seems people miss reading my posts. Okay, I wont lie… its only Ronin our faithful reader who misses me and so here I am! But looks like I have hit a wall. There is nothing much to say.

Just an update on the current events.

I have got my results of the last exam I took. It’s good but not good enough. So instead of going to the best college, I’ll be going to the 2nd, 3rd or the 4th best college in Mumbai. And that too depends on how well I perform in my second round. Sigh… I will survive….

Amber, Amethyst and I took a trip to Munnar in Kerala. There wasn’t much to see and all we did was travel without much of a break, but the drive was beautiful and it served as a good break.

Scenic photos and if you are lucky enough a post will follow soon.

Now we are back to our normal life and more importantly trying to live it normally.

And oh! I have enrolled for swimming classes. I am over the swimming with a tube and drowning without a tube phase! It’s my 10th day in the pool tomorrow and I hope to swim successfully!

That’s all for now folks!

Rainbows End

At one end of the rainbow, you will find,
A witch of a very unique kind.
With violet hair and purple shoes,
She runs a cauldron, in which a magic potion brews.
Violet, indigo, blue and green,
She got by adding flowers, ink, bits of sky and grass with a dewdrop sheen.
To get the colours yellow, orange and red,
She mixed in sunshine, fruit and poppies straight from her flower bed.
Once all the ingredients were in,
She stirred till it bubbled upto her chin!
When magic words over it she had uttered,
Her magic wand over it she fluttered.
Finally after a hour or two,
A beautiful rainbow out of it grew!

Lol...This is far from being a perfect or should I say 'great' poem...I'd say it's just 'ok'. Could use some polishing.

The idea originated in my head this morning while I was in the bus, and I completed the rest at college before classes began. Done for fun more than anything else :D.

An illustration to follow in the (very) near future.

Where Are You Going?

For our blogger friend Ronin...

Where Are You Going?

Walking down the lane I see,
People going where they should be,
But sometimes I stop and wonder…
Is it the place they want to be?

I know not my place or the road,
I just let time unfold,
I am not further from where they are,
Both awaiting a future told, untold…

I go my way,
And so do they ,
Some will find their place sooner or later…
And some will keep hoping anyway…
