Hello!!? Are You Listening To Me?

With a country like this who needs enemies? Who is ruining my country? How far can we stretch democracy? Is vandalism a justified form of democracy? Are the lives of people alive today at stake for the men and women who are revered as heroes in the eyes of the masses? What’s my fault to suffer the consequence someone else’s actions? Who will answer these questions of an inconsequential being who only asks to be heard?

You act, I pay. The common man (and by common man I mean an ordinary man who wouldn’t normally resort to abnormal deeds to show his dissatisfaction) spends every day struggling to meet everyone’s needs. He only asks for a sound government who would know what’s best for him and a safe city to live in so that he can worry about only things which are under his control.

Life in Mumbai is never routine. If we haven’t already been psyched out by the rains and terrorist attacks we have the local protests by various clusters trying to disrupt the peace.

Since, the economy seems to be doing well these people who in no way contribute to the economy positively decide to burn a deeper hole into the tax payer’s pocket. Call it politically motivated or otherwise, the end sufferer is the aforementioned common man. One’s ulterior motive is fulfilled through another’s actions and yet another suffers the consequences. The people protesting and causing violence, chaos and destruction to public property are in no way getting affected. It is you and I who pay for it by suffering the disruption caused to the already hassled life and shelling out for the re-creation of public utilities so that they can be destroyed by the former in the future.

Why shouldn’t I ask these questions? Why don’t we ask these questions? Aren’t the people of my country answerable to me as I am to them? Or will they listen to us when we speak their language?
